It is possible that your machine may need servicing; however, there are a couple of troubleshooting steps you can take to ascertain whether or not a repair is necessary.

  1. Is your machine reading 0 amps? See our article addressing that problem.
  2. Did you over salt the water? If your volts are below 9 and your amps are below 1.8, you may have simply added too much salt to the water. Start over again and add salt, 1/8 teaspoon at a time (you can use the measurement spoon included with your salt). Swish the array in the water for 10-15 seconds before you add more salt to allow it to dissolve and for the numbers to adjust. Typically, 1/8-1/4 of a teaspoon of salt is all that is required.
  3. Are you adding more and more salt to the water but the amperage is not responding? Change out the plates in the array. See our article How do I change my plates.
  4. Check the model of the power supply you are using. The model should be: Mean Well, Sinpro, GlobTek, or Wall. If your power supply does not match, you are using the wrong power supply. If you have lost your power supply, you will need to order a new one.
  5. Inspect the metal plates inside your array. Flip your array upside down. There will be seven panels that make up the "plates" as we call them. Ensure that none of the plates are touching. If they are, carefully pry the plates away from each other just enough so they are not touching. Place the array back in the water and see if your readings are normal.

If none of those instructions solve your problem, it is likely your machine needs to be repaired by a qualified technician. See Sending my machine in for repair for further guidance.
