There is a big difference between chelation therapy and the IonCleanse by AMD.

From WebMD -- Chelation therapy is a chemical process in which a synthetic solution—EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid)—is injected into the bloodstream to remove heavy metals and/or minerals from the body. Chelation means "to grab" or "to bind.”

Chelation relies on the body to excrete (detox) the bounded metals. By contrast, the IonCleanse by AMD creates a new pathway of elimination into the foot bath, thus bypassing the normal channels of elimination. This is an important distinction for children who have impaired detox pathways. Additionally, the IonCleanse process does not put anything into the body; it is non-invasive, and painless.
